🥀Chaos and Calm 🥀

At the Girls' Apartment

Nyra's POV

A morning is supposed to be calm, silent, and peaceful, with sunshine pouring through the windows like molten gold, birds chirping melodiously, and the city slowly waking up.

But no—that wasn't the kind of morning in this house.

Because today, Doctor Saheba, aka Nirvi Madam, had decided to cook breakfast.

And trust me, that was nothing short of a natural disaster.

Every single time she stepped into the kitchen to "cook," she left behind a battlefield instead of a kitchen. Burnt pans that went straight into the dustbin, black toast that could compete with coal, and sticky poha that would work better as glue for school projects than as breakfast.

Even after pleading with her hundreds of times, she never listened. She always repeated the same line—

"That was just a minor accident. Eat quietly and don't argue."

Now tell me, how am I supposed to keep my mouth shut after witnessing all the karnamas she creates?

So, here we were, sitting around our tiny dining table, staring at a horrible-looking bowl of upma. I had no idea why it was orange. Beside it sat a jug of mango juice that somehow looked green instead of yellow.

Mika Dii stared at the upma as if it were the Death Note, while the mango juice looked like sweet poison.

And I knew we were both thinking the exact same thing.

"Why are you both staring at the food as if it'll kill you before you even eat it?" Nirvi Dii asked, looking genuinely offended.

In the calmest voice possible, Mika Dii replied, "Because it feels like I'll end up in the hospital tomorrow. Look at this—it looks less like upma and more like khichdi. And tell me one thing... why is it orange? Also, how is mango juice green? And you're actually expecting us to eat this?"

She sighed dramatically before continuing, "I don't want to die, guys. Last time I ate the poha you made, I ended up vomiting. So no one is eating this. I'm placing an order, and we'll have a proper breakfast."

Reluctantly, Nirvi Dii agreed because she still remembered how badly Mika Dii had suffered the last time.

And that was the story of today's breakfast...

Or maybe not.

After all, the whole Sunday was still left.

This was just the beginning, babe. 😚

At Suryavanshi Palace

Anvit's POV

As I finished getting dressed in my formal clothes for the day, my phone buzzed inside my pocket.

I looked at the screen.

Arav.

My asshole friend.

I seriously couldn't understand whether this man had nothing better to do on Earth than call me this early in the morning.

With an annoyed sigh, I answered the call.

A cheerful, excited voice greeted me.

"Good morning, dude! Missed me?"

I rolled my eyes.

Did he really think I spent my mornings thinking about him?

"What do you want this early in the morning?" I asked while making my way towards the dining hall.

"Can't I call you without having any work?" he complained.

That was probably the most ridiculous thing I'd heard all morning.

"Next time, call me only when you have a reason."

I hung up without waiting for his reply.

As I entered the dining hall, I noticed that everyone was already seated, waiting for me.

I silently cursed that idiot for making me late.

Taking my seat, I began serving myself breakfast. A second of peace had barely passed before Father spoke.

"Vimla, why is this curry so spicy?"

And just like that...

The little peace that existed disappeared.

I ignored the familiar scene.

It had become a daily drama in this house.

"Bring the chilli powder," Father ordered.

"I'm sorry... I won't repeat my mistake," Mother pleaded softly.

But Father remained expressionless.

Receiving no response, she quietly walked into the kitchen and returned with the chilli powder.

Sometimes I wondered why she made mistakes when she couldn't bear their consequences.

Father mixed several spoonfuls of chilli powder into a glass of water and handed it to her.

He didn't need to say anything.

She already knew what she had to do.

"Please... forgive me," she pleaded one last time.

A single stern look from Father was enough.

With trembling hands, she raised the glass and started drinking.

Tears streamed down her face as she struggled to swallow the burning liquid, coughing several times along the way.

She had probably grown used to this punishment by now.

Without reacting, I focused on my breakfast, finished eating, and walked away to begin another day.
